The England Authority closed the decade by announcing two major capital projects to improve England Airpark: New Airport Passenger Terminal Complex and OakWing Public Golf Course. The new Passenger Terminal Complex will be composed of a new Passenger Terminal, new Fire Station and new Control Tower. Estimated cost is approximately $26 million. Estimated completion date for the fire station and terminal is 2002.
OakWing Golf Course will be a championship quality course winding through 220 acres at the Airpark. The public, daily fee course will cost approximately $12 million with an estimated completion date set for fall of 2001.
Other capital improvements initiated or completed in 1999 to move the Airpark forward are: 10 general aviation hangers, reconstruction of the North Ramp, new airfield Electrical Vault and wiring, Airfield drainage study, Part 150 Noise Study, new 3,000 gallon aircraft rescue and fire fighting truck and Time Trend computer manufacturing facility. The above projects represent approximately $7.9 million in improvements.
In the fall of 1999, the board of commissioners elected Mike Tudor, Chair; Martin Johnson, Vice-Chair and Kit Provine, Secretary-Treasurer. The Authority also welcomed the following persons to the board in 1999: Richard Bushnell, Elwood Carroll and Hank Bruser.
