Airfield Technician / Wildlife Control
The England Authority is looking for a candidate to fill our Airfield Technician position. This position works in and around the airfield at Alexandria International Airport.
The ideal candidate will have airfield compliance experience and will have the ability obtain necessary certifications and licenses to control wildlife. A portion of the job is focused on wildlife hazard management.
The duties also include conducting daily maintenance and activities using traps, snares, chemical, tools, firearms and related equipment in an airport environment. Assist in the daily maintenance of the airport at England Airpark to ensure that all airport facilities and services are in working order.
Other Duties:
- Performs airfield inspections and checks to includes runways, taxiways, aprons, pavements, signs, lighting, and airfield clearance areas.
- Responds to wildlife, foreign object debris and other flight safety hazards affecting the airfield environment.
- Responsible for conducting daily, weekly and monthly wildlife surveys and recording the data.
- Prepares inspection reports, and maintain logs including Federal Depredation, State NAC, and daily inspection logs.
- Use of lethal control devices such as chemicals, firearms and related equipment needed for wildlife mitigation and avian management.
- Maintain grounds by cleaning, mowing, weeding and pruning; repairs and maintains irrigation systems.
- Assist in coordinating with local wildlife agencies.
- Operates ground-moving equipment including dozer, front-end loaders, runway broom, sweepers, dump trucks, trac-hoe, backhoe, and other related equipment to grade runways, taxiways, safety areas and airport roadways.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- At least Three years of electrical experience and airfield maintenance required.
- Must obtain and maintain Part 139 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Certification.
- Must obtain Herbicide Applicator Certification.
- Experience in Wildlife Mitigation and Depredation on State and Federal level
- Must possess a valid vehicle operator’s license.
- Must pass a pre-employment and subsequent criminal background checks.
